Spring 1997

CONFERENCES

(See SAAG article for more)

1997 The conference at Mtunzini in KwaZulu-Natal was "great, very laid back, good social, good science, goodfun, lovely location..." according to the only report submitted to the newsletter (Shirley Bethune).

1997(b) -- the "other" falls. The River Health Workshop at Albert Falls in August was almost big enough to qualify as a conference.

1998 -- a "freer state of mind". No word on date or venue. Should SASAQS meet only every second year, to avoid stretching limited resources? If you have strong views on this, write to the newsletter.

1999 -- Swakopmund? As Jay O'Keeffe mentioned in his presidential address, Shirley Bethune has bravely offered to organise a second SASAQS conference in Namibia -- she organised the previous one in 1986 (Windhoek). The local organising committee has not yet set a date. Send any brilliant ideas for sponsors, logos and the like to Shirley at PO Box 9958, Windhoek, Namibia or BethuneS@mawrd.gov.na
